For a concert back on Saturday in Carlsbad, California at the Museum of Making Music, I had the chance to meet Clive Carroll after the show, who is widely regarded as one of the leading fingerstyle guitarists in the world. We talked about our favorite music styles, genres, and eras etc. Also talked about our families and the meaning of true happiness. Carroll's concert was amazing, he is very skilled in the guitar, and it was fantastic to see him perform and listen to his latest works, including items that have not been officially released to the public yet. That night he played jazz, blues and other styles, including his world famous--and enormously technical--fingerstyle guitar playing, which was incredible to see first-hand. Likewise, Carroll performed some pieces by John Renbourn (English guitarist, composer, and songwriter who became one of the most influential acoustic guitarists of the twentieth century), which some of Renbourn's music is also included on Carroll's most recent album "The Abbot" (2023). I appreciate the time and opportunity that I had with Carroll, his generosity and down-to-earth personality was fantastic. I would like to see one of his performances again sometime in the future.
